Hopscotch, Chooks and Slingshots

Date:
Sat, 9 Dec 2017 to Sun, 10 Dec 2017
Presenter:
Prospect Theatre for Young People
Description:
Hopscotch, Chooks and Slingshots returns to Holden Street Theatres in a new version with a brand new cast. This very popular play was first created by Prospect Theatre for Young People in 2014, based on the memories of local residents who had grown up in Prospect in the 1930’s and 40’s.

The play presents a collage of stories which depict family life, school, leisure and local events. It also shows some of the impact of the Depression and World War 2 on children at the time. Both poignant and humorous, the show encourages young people to imagine the experience of childhood in another era, long before television and social media. At the same time, it will bring back many memories for the older members of the audience.

With performances by members of Prospect Theatre for Young People aged
7 – 11, voice over narration by Prospect residents aged between 70 and 94 and direction by Artistic Director Margaret Steven, Hopscotch, Chooks and Slingshots is truly a play for the whole family!
